In de laatste Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi van het Formule 1-seizoen boekte Red Bull's Nederlandse wereldkampioen Max Verstappen een recordzege: de 19e overwinning in één jaar. Zijn 54e overwinning in zijn carrière stuwde hem naar de derde plaats op de historische ranglijst, voor Sebastian Vettel uit Duitsland. Verstappen versloeg Ferrari's Charles Leclerc met meer dan 17 seconden op Yas Marina. De derde plaats ging naar George Russell van Mercedes.
