Hij begon zijn Formule 1-carrière in 2019 bij Toro Rosso. Halverwege het seizoen stapte hij over naar Red Bull en werd hij de nieuwe teamgenoot van Max Verstappen. Albon racete ook in 2020 voor het Oostenrijkse team, maar zat net zo ver achter Verstappen als zijn voorganger Gasly. Daarom besloot Red Bull voor 2021 Sergio Pérez in plaats van Albon in te schakelen. In 2021 racete Albon met GT3-auto's in de DTM, maar Red Bull vond toch een plek voor hem om terug te keren in de F1. Hij tekende bij Williams en verdiende, nadat hij met zijn niet-competitieve auto enkele goede resultaten scoorde, een plek voor dit jaar.
